  • Accessibility Changes to MarcEdit

One of the things that I admittedly am not always the best at is including accessibility options in the MarcEdit program.  Where this raises the most questions tends to be in regard to the Font, or more precisely, the font size of the program.  It’s something that I occasionally think about dealing with, but at…

  • Embedded advertising in Ebooks?

I was glancing through slashdot this morning and ran across this article by the wall street journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704554104575435243350910792.html) that discusses how advertising, embedded in ebooks, could be in our future. The article looks at some of the trends that point to this being true (patent applications by Amazon, advertising in other media, etc). I realize…

  • First bike ride of the summer 🙂

With my medical restrictions lifted, I made my first commute of the summer on my bike. And while I’ve ridden that road hundreds of times, it has never looked better. TR

  • I’m whole again and heading back on the bike 🙂

I visited my doctor today and after a set of x-rays, found that my elbow has successfully healed. Restrictions have been lifted and I plan on celebrating tomorrow by riding the recumbent for the first time in almost 3 months. Today has been a very good day.

  • The Internet Generation

Maybe it’s because I have two young children, maybe it’s because I honestly think that we don’t do as a good of a job as we think we do serving those so called digital natives…but I have a fascination with the Internet Generation.  Recently, I had read John Palfrey’s book Born Digital. The book is…

  • Summer update

Well, it’s been a bit of a busy summer.  So much so, that I’ve been neglecting my space here for a bit.  I’ve been keeping up with MarcEdit updates and primarily notify folks of updates through the new auto update tool, but other than that — I’ve gotten behind.  Lots of reasons.  Some of it…

  • Google OS fun

I’ll have to admit — I’m not particularly sold yet on Google’s new cloud-based OS idea — I think largely for two reasons: 1) I don’t trust the cloud enough at this point to be willing to store all my data there 2) On my netbook (which would be the primary device for this software)…

  • Jack-0-lantern the last (2009)

Yesterday, I posted pictures of my families first three jack-o-lanterns.  These were Kenny, Nathan and Alyce’s pumpkins — but I didn’t have one.  So, I went to the store and picked up a new pumpkin so I could carve my own jack-o-lantern.  I had an idea of what I wanted — over the past two…

  • Last weekend at AALL

This last weekend I had the opportunity to head out to DC for a couple of days and present on the topic of modifying vendor records using MarcEdit to the American Association of Law Libraries.  It was a quick trip.  I flew in on Saturday and was out by Monday, but one that I enjoyed…

  • MarcEdit update

I posted an update to MarcEdit on Thursday.  The scope of the update is limited — a new function in the MarcEditor (copy field), enhancements to the validator, etc.  Nothing earth shaking.  I’m still working on a few larger initiatives — but wanted to get a few bug fixes/convenience functions out to people. As always,…
